Houses of Parliament Votes for Women

On 13th February 2014, Kate Willoughby’s play To Freedom’s Cause was performed at The Houses of Parliament followed by a debate on gender equality chaired by Jane Garvey of BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. It formed part of the Emily Wilding Davison Statue in Parliament Campaign organised by Emily Thornberry MP & the social media campaign under #Emilymatters.

After the play & debate, Rachel Cochrane conducted a vox pop of 13 people who attended or took part in the event. This was to document people’s immediate reactions, in particular to the play. The resulting vox pop could be used as evaluative data & also as evidence of interest in the play when applying for future funding.  The vox pop was made available online, and  so could increase awareness of the play & the issues of gender equality that it raises.
