New Year, New You: creative writing sessions at County Durham Libraries
Kickstart your New Year with some creative writing! Join Rachel Cochrane at one of the County Durham Libraries in January 2017 for a relaxed and informal session on the theme of New Year, New You.
For many, a New Year means a new diary, an opportunity to journal events, feelings, perceptions on a day to day basis in addition to chronicling hopes and aspirations for the coming year. In literature, fictional diaries can form a strong narrative and those from non-fictional sources can tell an equally compelling story, reflecting the social history of the time and the lives of both high profile and ordinary people.
At the sessions, we will explore the use of the diary form in literature, both fiction and non-fiction. This review and discussion will be a starting point for the participants’ own creative expression using the theme of diaries as your inspiration. All welcome including those new to writing or trying it for the first time.
There will also be an opportuntiy to submit your writing for display and to be considered for audio recording for podcast site listenupnorth.
